*A Message of Appreciation from Talbot County Government*

To the first responders who serve Talbot County every day: Thank you.

Your dedication, professionalism, and willingness to serve make a difference in our community. Whether responding to emergencies, providing lifesaving care, answering 9-1-1 calls, maintaining public safety, or serving in our correctional facility, your work does not go unnoticed.

Talbot County is proud to support our first responders, not only through words of appreciation but through continued investments in the people, facilities, equipment, and technology that support your work.

Some of these efforts include:
- The new Public Safety Complex at Mary's Court, bringing together the Sheriff's Office and Department of Emergency Services in modern facilities designed to strengthen coordination, training, and emergency response.
- The new North EMS Station in Cordova, expanding emergency medical services infrastructure and supporting 24-hour paramedic coverage in northern Talbot County.
- Improvements to 9-1-1 communications, including updated technology, redundant infrastructure, and backup capabilities to strengthen the reliability of emergency communications.
- Continued investments in public safety vehicles and equipment, helping personnel carry out their responsibilities safely and effectively.
- Training and professional development opportunities, supporting the readiness and skills of those who serve.
- Participation in the Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System (LEOPS), supporting eligible law enforcement personnel through retirement benefits that recognize the demands of public safety service.
- Enhanced retirement benefits for public safety personnel, including participation in the Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System (LEOPS) and Correctional Officers' Retirement System (CORS), providing eligible employees with improved retirement, disability, and survivor benefits while supporting recruitment and retention.
- Enhanced benefits for volunteer emergency responders, through the County Council's approval of Bill No. 1654, which provides qualifying active volunteer members with monthly longevity benefits of at least $100 for life, with opportunities to earn additional benefits under certain conditions.
- The Penny for Public Safety, reflecting our community's commitment to supporting the personnel and infrastructure essential to public safety.

These efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to providing first responders with the resources, benefits, and support they deserve.

To our emergency medical personnel, firefighters, law enforcement officers, 9-1-1 public safety telecommunicators, correctional officers, and all who answer the call: We appreciate your service, your sacrifices, and the important work you do every day.

Thank you for all you do for Talbot County!
