Talbot County’s Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP) helps guide how we care for our parks, open spaces, and natural areas. It looks at where parks are located, how people use them, and what new spaces or programs might be needed—especially in areas that could use more access. The plan also highlights local efforts to preserve farmland and natural resources while setting goals to make our parks and recreation opportunities even better for everyone.

Talbot County residents are invited to take part in a series of Parks & Recreation Plan Listening Sessions this March. These conversations are an important part of the County’s Parks & Recreation planning process and will help shape the future of parks, programs, and recreational facilities throughout Talbot County.

The sessions are designed to gather input from both community members and specific user groups. Whether you visit our parks, use the pool or ice rink, play on local fields, bike our roads, or simply want to see more recreation opportunities in your area, your voice matters.

“These sessions are about listening to the community,” said Emily Gilmer, Parks and Recreation Director. “We want to better understand how residents use our parks and facilities, what is working well, and where there are opportunities to grow. Community input will directly guide future investments and priorities.”
